Why looping?

Looping has become widespread among musicians worldwide even taking on major artists like Ed Sheeran, KT Tunstall, Imogen Heap, Robert Fripp, David Torn and many others.

So what’s the appeal?

  • Instant music. Ok, that’s the obvious one but worth mentioning because many argue that it’s the same as just recording a song on a DAW. Ok…let’s see that live then? Didn’t think so.
That’s the major difference, looping is instant and every above artist and many more perform their looping sets live in front of an audience or in rehearsal or at home.

  • Practicing. Working on a lick? Want to hear how it sounds over different chords? It’s two clicks away: Record, Play. Done.
Want to try a bass line or vocals over those chords? Sing harmonies? Practice a difficult section of jazz standard…Record, Play, it’s that easy!

  • Add a band member. Maybe you’re a solo performing artist or a duo or even a trio. It’s become more and more common, many times for financial reasons (simple math. The lesser, the more pay, right?).
We’ve been there, coming from an almost ten piece band down to three, we seriously felt the void. Whether you sacrifice drums, percussion, bass, piano, guitar, horns or backing vocals, you’re going to feel it and so is the audience.
With looping you can add as many virtual musicians as you want and fill that sonic space.
You’ll feel more comfortable, enjoy it more and the audience will love it!

  • Composing. It’s simply the best, fastest and most intuitive way to get your ideas down quickly or rather, instantly!
In a matter of minutes you can have several layers down, without ever letting go of your instrument.
Just let the creative juices flow. And when ready, thanks to Orbirsh’s ingenious multitrack & multilayer looping system, you can not only get your verse section fully orchestrated, but also your chorus and bridge, effortlessly and in no time.
